Nova News chronicles the first six months of our becoming Full-Time
RVers.We speak
of sails set to a highway song heard in the Hearts of Dreamers
and the protection afforded fools and drunks willing to jump
off the mesa---messy or not.It’s about white knuckles, wooden
nickels and sounds that go bump in the night.In short, it’s the spirit of discovery...inside and outside
of oneself.
Our lives had taken twists and turns neither of us
ever expected.We found ourselves in ruts---dead end
relationships with cultural, interpersonal and occupational
overtones demanding action, rather than acquiescence.So we hit the road...runnin.’
By October of ‘99 we sold our possessions and
purchased a Vintage 34 ft. Avion travel trailer.Not unlike the antiquated Ford truck we use to pull
it, we consider our rig a “Classic.”It doesn’t matter it is 23 years old, nor that
it needed some major overhauling to get ‘er onto the
highways and by-the-ways.It is “Home” and we christened
it “NOVA.”
Eventually, we outfitted NOVA with three solar panels,
military aircraft batteries and a small wind generator, allowing
us to live off the grid and travel deep into places most tourists
never go.Over
the years we’ve discovered a lot about this nomadic
lifestyle, met folks from here to there and, sometimes, those
who reside in-between the DreamTimes.Afterall, when yer flyin’ by the set of your
pants, it’s a good idea to pay attention to as many
insights as ya can...and dreams are chock full ‘em.
During the coursing of our expeditions, these travelogues
reflect our day to day musings regarding “this, that
and the other thing.”From Baja beauty to back road blacktop
crisscrossing the Promised Land, it’s about appreciating
a warm cup of coffee on a high desert plain...the cards dealt
that got ya there...and lessons learned along this Way less
traveled.
